Welcome to Term 3!

 

This term we have a number of exciting events including…

·         School photos – Week 2

·         Book Week Fancy Dress – Week 5

·         Faction Sports Carnival – Week 7

·         Spring Flower Pot Competition – Week 8

·         Interschool Sports Carnival – Week 9

·         Science and Maths Day – Week 9

More information regarding these events will be provided closer to their respective dates.

 

In the classroom this term, we will be focussing on…

·         Fluency and comprehension in Reading, particularly students’ abilities to find and locate answers to literal questions and formulate answers to inferential questions.

·         Digraphs and blends in Spelling, as well as the ‘Bossy E’ (silent E) spelling rule. 

·         Persuasive texts in Writing, as well as compound sentences, conjunctions, verb tenses and prepositions.

·         Addition and subtraction within 40, including simple word problems, in Mathematics, as well as place value to 40, fractions and measurement of mass, capacity and area. We will also look at position and probability this term.

·         Families and how they change over time in Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS).

·         The effects of different types of light and sound produced by objects in Science.

·         Keeping safe around medicines and hazardous substances in Health.

 

Please be aware that this term:

·         Art is on Tuesday (odd weeks only) from 8:50am to 10:30am

·        ICT is on Tuesday (even weeks only) from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Computer Lab

·         Italian is on Wednesday after lunch in the classroom

·         Sport is on Thursday 8:50am to 9:40am

·         Library is on Thursday before and after recess

·         Music is on Thursday after lunch in the classroom.
