What skills to revise during the holidays?  During the holidays, it would be greatly appreciated if you  could   revise   the following : Mathematics Pre Primary Count forward in sequence to 100. Make collections up to 20. Start counting from any point. Use the strategy ‘counting on’.   Read numerals, identifies numerals and matches to quantities 0-20. Count each object once only. Compare collections according to quantity i.e. ‘more’, ‘less’, ‘same as’, ‘not the same as’.   Copy and continue a pattern with objects, drawings, sounds and movements. Create a pattern with objects, drawings, sounds and movements. Recognise patterns in the environment. Compare objects directly and identifies attributes of length, height, weight and volume. Mathematics Resources  Year One Word Problems  Thank you very much for your support with Word Problem Wednesday. It is great to see all the Year One children having a go at the completing the word problems. I have introduced the CUBES Strategy to the children. The children are using this strategy to solve addition and subtraction word problems. The steps are: At home, I would like you to remind your child to use the CUBES Strategy when completing word problems.   Measurement and Geometry   In Room 7, the Pre Primary and Year One children have been learning to:  Name and order the days of the week. A Wonderful Term One! Over the last eleven weeks, the children have participated in many exciting events.  Harmony Week Art Installation In Visual Arts, the children contributed to a class Dream Catcher. Each child wrote a message relating to ‘I dream of a world where…’ Congratulations to all the children for their hard work and excellent responses.   Harmony Day Parade On the 21 st March, the children participated in a parade with their buddy class (Room 8). The children wore clothing representing cultures from around the world or dressed in orange which is the celebration colour for Harmony Day. Thank you to all the parents for helping your child dress up for the parade.  Our Assembly On the 23 rd March, the children from Room 7 and Room 21 hosted the junior assembly. The assembly was transformed into a show about Pacca Alpaca’s adventures around the world. Congratulations to the children for putting on an OUTSTANDING assembly. Th
Assembly Preparation  On the 23rd March (Friday), the students in Room 7 and Room 21 will be hosting the Junior Assembly. The students will be performing two songs based on countries around the world. Song One: Travel around the world Song Two: Top of the world Throughout the next two weeks, we would like the students to practice these two songs at home.
