Wonderful last week of Term Three!  Learning Journey  Thank you to all the parents and grandparents for visiting our classroom and participating in the Learning Journey. It was lovely to see you taking a moment with your child to discuss their learning and view samples of their work. Thank you for completing the 'Two Stars and A Wish' with your child. This information will support the children in forming their English and Mathematics Goals for Term Four.          Junior Assembly On the 22nd September, the students attended their last Junior Assembly for Term Three. Congratulations to Lola and Philip for receiving their well-deserved Merit Certificates. I am very impressed with your wonderful effort towards learning. Keep it up! Term Four Super Science Challenge  Research Projects In Term Four, the Super Scientist challenge will be in the form of a research project. All students have been invited to research any scientific topic and present their information to the class in a short two minute presentation. Students are allowed to use posters, charts and ICT resources such as MS PowerPoint to support their presentation. What skills to revise during the holidays? During the holidays, I will like you to reinforce the following skills with your child. Mathematics Skills  Number and Algebra Orally count to 200 and from 100 from any starting point. Orally count starting from 0 by 2s to 100. Identify odd and even numbers to 20. Read and understand basic facts to 40 (addition and subtraction)  Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems to 40 using concrete materials, illustrations and counting on. Count collections to 100 or more by partitioning numbers using place value. Accurately share and group objects equally. Understand and describe the concept of one-half as part of a whole. Recognise, describe and order Australian coins and notes according to value.  ·          Measurement and Geometry Measure and compare capacity using uniform informal units. Junior Assembly Award Winners On the 15th September , the students attended a Junior Assembly presented by Room 1 and Room 6. Physical Education Program As part of the school's Physical Education Program, the students participated in the Cross Country and Sports Carnival during Term Three.  Cross Country This year fifteen students from Room 7 participated in the Junior Cross Country.  Congratulations to Willow, Lola, Misbah, Amelia, Monet, Laylah, Isabella, Alyssa, Jacob, Alexander LB, Joshua, Bryce, Samuel, Kyan and Lucas on a wonderful effort.  Thank you to all the students for their great cheering. You were an awesome cheering squad! Sports Carnival  Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding effort and enthusiasm displayed at the sports carnival.  A big congratulations to PURPLE for being the winning faction for 2017. National Wattle Day  On the 31st August, the students celebrated National Wattle Day . We celebrated it a day earlier because of the Faction Carnival taking place on the 1st September. Facts Wattle is our school emblem. Wattle is our national floral emblem. Wattle is Australian and represents us all. Like all people, wattle has great diversity. Wattle welcomes in the spring. Wattle is a unifying symbol for all Australians . Throughout the day, the students created flags, decorated badges and designed their own Wattle Day art work.  Kinds regards Miss Ryan
