Welcome to Term
Three!
The Clever Caterpillars have had a wonderful start to Term Three.
The Clever Caterpillars have had a wonderful start to Term Three.
The children have settled into their new home teams
and continue to give 120% effort towards their learning.
NAIDOC Week
Throughout NAIDOC Week, the children learnt about the growth, features and
traditional uses of local native plants. They learnt about the Noongar seasons
and how the traditional landowners used the various plants at different times
of the year. At the end of the week, the children met their buddies from Room 27. Each child created a
boomerang and contributed to a dot painting of a Rainbow Serpent.
Coding
As part of the Pre Primary/ Year One STEM Program, the children have been learning how to use Scratch Junior on iPads.
They can now demonstrate a range of skills including...
- Selecting or creating a background image for their stage.
- Adding new characters to their project.
- Saving the current project and exiting to the Home page.
- Expanding the stage to a full screen.
- Adding titles and labels to the stage.
- Selecting different pages from their projects.
- Selecting a category of programming blocks: Triggering Blocks (Yellow), Motion (Blue), Looks (Purple), Sounds (Green), Control (Orange) and End Blocks (Red).
I look forward to seeing the children develop their coding skills over the next six weeks.
Keep up the fantastic effort, Clever Caterpillars ☺
Kind regards
Miss Ryan
