A Wonderful Term Two!

Over the last nine weeks, the children have progressed in many areas of development including academic, creative, physical and social and emotional. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the children become responsible for their learning.

The children have participated in many exciting events during the term.

Year One Family Mathematics Night

Thank you to all the families for attending the Year One Family Mathematics Night. It is great to hear that you now have a better understanding on how you can support your child’s understanding, fluency, problem solving and reasoning at home. If you have any questions about the activities, please come and see me J

Super Scientist Competition

The Year One children were invited to present a short science experiment or report on a science related topic to their peers. All the children were creative, used their imagination and had fun in preparing and presenting their science experiment or report. Congratulations to Matilda for being selected by her peers as the top 'super scientist' for Room 7.

Classroom Project

As part of our STEM, Science, HASS and Technology and Enterprise Integrated Program, the children planned and created a landscape diorama.

Each child:

Step 1. Selected a landscape to make (i.e. farm, park, city, bush etc.)

Step 2. Brainstormed a list of natural and built features to include in their landscape (Children had to use three natural and three built features in their diorama).

Step 3. Decided on what colours they needed to paint their box, what things they needed to make to place into the box and what materials they needed to make their features.

Step 4. Created their landscape diorama.

Step 5. Reflected on how similar their landscape diorama was to their plan.

Junior Assembly

On the 14th June, the children attended their fourth Junior Assembly for the year. A big congratulations to Tiana, Chloe, Jacob and Milla for receiving their well-deserved Merit Certificates. Keep up the awesome effort, Caterpillars.

Thank you very much for your fantastic support this term.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday.

Kind regards

Miss Ryan
