Year One Word Problems 

Thank you very much for your support with the Word Problems. It is great to see all the Year One children having a go at completing the word problems.

I have introduced the CUBES Strategy to the children. The children are using this strategy to solve addition and subtraction word problems.

The steps are:

At home, I would like you to remind your child to use the CUBES Strategy when completing word problems. 

Measurement and Geometry  

In Room 7, the Pre Primary and Year One children have been learning to: 

• Name and order the days of the week.
• Name and order the months of the year.
• Name the seasons.

Here are some focus questions to ask your child at home.

Days of the week	Months of the year	Seasons
How many days are there in a week?	How many months are there in a year?	How many seasons in a year?
How many days in a fortnight?	How many days in a month?	What are the seasons in order?
How many hours in a day?	What are the months in order?
What are the days in order?
