Junior Assembly

On the 18th May, the children attended their third Junior Assembly for the year. Congratulations to the children for winning the Music Award. Thank you to Drasika and Thanuja (Semester One Student Councillors) for accepting the award on behalf of their peers. Furthermore, a big congratulations to Cooper, Rafael and Amber for receiving their well-deserved Merit Certificates. Well done, Clever Caterpillars!

Healthy Zero Waste Days (No throw Tuesday)

As part of our whole school approach towards sustainability, our class is having healthy zero waste days on Tuesdays. The healthy zero waste days encourages the students to reduce the amount of waste we produce. Before recess, the children will take turns to count the number of healthy zero waste lunchboxes in our classroom. Then the children will add the data to our class graph.

What is a healthy zero waste lunchbox?

  • A zero waste lunchbox contains no throwaway packaging and produces no food waste.
  • The food is put in reusable containers rather than wrapped in disposable packaging.
  • A drink is in a refillable bottle.
  • All containers are resealable, so that leftover food and drink can be saved for later.

Thank you for supporting our approach towards sustainability.

Mathematics Resources

In Room 7, the Pre Primary and Year One children have been learning to:

Write their numbers from 0 to 100 with the correct formation.

Here are our number formation songs:

0: Make a big loop, just like so. This is the way to make zero.
1: A straight line one it is fun.
2: Around and back on the railway track makes two, two, two.
3: Around the tree and around the tree. This is the way you make a three.
4: Down and across and down some more. This is the way you make a four.
5: With a straight neck and a round tummy, put his hat on, five sure looks funny!
6: Down to a loop, the six rolls a hoop.
7: Across the sky and straight down. This is the way you make a seven.
8: Make an “S” and do not wait. Climb back up to make an eight.
9: A loop and a line makes a nine.

Kind regards

Miss Ryan
