Term Two Learning Outcomes

In the classroom, the students are learning to:


Mathematics Skills 

Number and Algebra

  • Orally count to 200 and from 100 from any starting point.
  • Orally count starting from 0 by 2s, 5s and 10s to 100.
  • Read the word numerals for 1 to 20.
  • Identify odd and even numbers to 20. 
  • Read and understand basic facts to 20 (addition and subtraction).
  • Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems to 30 using concrete materials, illustrations, counting on, counting back and number bonds. 

  • Measurement and Geometry

  • Knowing the duration of an hour, day, week and month.
  • Measure and compare length.
  • Recognise and classify 2D shapes using basic attributes and features.
  • Recognise and classify 3D shapes using basic attributes and features. 


Statistics and Probability

  • Identifying outcomes of familiar events involving chance and describing them using everyday language such as “will happen”, “won’t happen” or “might happen”.
  • Draw simple data displays. 


English Skills

  • Identify trigraphs, which are three letters coming together to make one new sound (ang, ing, ong and ung).
  • Identify R-Controlled Vowels, which is when 'Bossy r' bosses the vowel to make a new sound (ir, ur, er (fern), er (mother), ar and or).
  • Recognise the first 200 high frequency words (fast and consistent).
  • Use nouns and verbs correctly in sentences.
  • Use a variety of sentence beginnings (openers) in their work. 
  • Provide examples of contractions. 
  • Spell the first 150 high frequency words.
  • Use a variety of strategies to spell unknown words.
  • Apply blends and digraphs, when writing. 
  • Write recounts, with neat writing and approximately one page in length.
  • Use full stops, capital letters, question marks and exclamation marks appropriately.
