Revision for Year Two During the holidays, I will like you to reinforce the following skills with your child. Mathematics Skills  Number and Algebra Orally count starting from 0 by 2s to 100.  Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems to 40 using concrete materials, illustrations and counting on. Count collections to 100 or more by partitioning numbers using place value. ·          Measurement and Geometry Tell the time (hour and half hour).      English Skills Use nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives correctly in sentences.  Use basic conjunctions, contractions and similes in their writing.  Write recounts,procedures and narratives, with neat writing and approximately one page in length.  Apply basic proof reading and editing skills. Room 7 and 20 Christmas Lunch  A Little Celebration! Dear Parents We are nearing the end of a fantastic year and so to celebrate we have planned a special day for the students. On the 13th December (Wednesday) , the students will be having a Christmas lunch. What to bring: Your child needs to bring a plate of food or drink to share at our lunch. Please see the list on the window and write your name next to the food or drink that your child will bring to the lunch. Morning Tea: Please bring morning tea (as usual). Accurately share and group objects equally. Understand and describe the concept of one-half as part of a whole. ·          Measurement and Geometry Tell the time (hour and half hour). Give and follow specific directions to familiar locations (positional words, clockwise/anticlockwise). Statistics and Probability Choose simple questions and gather responses to collect data. Authors at work  As part of our Year One English Program, the students have been creating detailed texts for a range of purposes using simple frameworks. Recount Purpose : To retell a series of events. Swimming by Misbah On the sunny weekend, my Mum, brother, sister and I went to the Belmont Swimming Centre because I had swimming lessons. First, I got changed into my colourful swimming bathers. Then I found my friendly swimming instructor. She taught my group how to swim using our hands and feet. After my swimming lesson, I had a warm shower before coming home. I had an awesome time at swimming lessons. I can’t wait to go again!
