Term Two Learning Outcomes In the classroom, the students are learning to: Mathematics Skills  Number and Algebra Orally count to 200 and from 100 from any starting point. Orally count starting from 0 by 2s, 5s and 10s to 100. Read the word numerals for 1 to 20. Identify odd and even numbers to 20.  Read and understand basic facts to 20 (addition and subtraction). Special Events in Term Two Life Education Van On the 29 th May 2017, the students will be attending a session in the Life Education Van. The session is called ‘Harold’s Friendships’. The session explores the qualities of a good friend, feelings and emotions, early warning signs, and safe and unsafe situations. The cost is $8.50 per student. Please ensure you return the permission slip and money/ or pay via QRK by the 25 th May (Thursday). Super Scientist Competition In Week Six, the students have been invited to present a short science experiment or report on a science related topic to their peers. The class will select their top two ‘ super scientists’ and they will move forward to the year level challenge.  Task The students need to research a scientific concept or idea, and then deliver this to their peers. Welcome to Term Two! Introduction The Clever Caterpillars have had a great start to Term Two.  The students have settled into their new home teams. The home teams are called... Hawks Dockers Eagles Port Power Western Bulldogs Richmond Tigers To ensure the home teams run smoothly, the students have team roles. The students have successfully learnt all four roles, including Gofor, Recorder, Chairperson and Timekeeper.  Pen Pals Over the last few weeks, Room Seven started to communicate with a group of Year One students at Dr Hamman School in Taber, Alberta (Canada). This has included using 'snail mail' and videos.      The students look forward to hearing from their Pen Pals soon ☺☺☺ Junior Assembly     On the 12th May 2017, the students attended their third Junior Assembly for the year. Congratulations to Misbah, Bryce and Liora for receiving their well-deserved Merit Certificates. Keep
