The
Book Week dress-up parade was on Friday 20th August. The
students looked fantastic and a big thank you to all the parents and carers for
putting together their costumes.
No
Trash Tuesday
In
accordance with our school’s Sustainability plan, our goal is to significantly
reduce our school’s waste.
No
Trash Tuesday is an initiative which encourages students and families to take
a mindful approach to reducing the waste we produce. Packing a
lunchbox with no waste is both environmentally friendly and responsible.
Tip:
Try to use re-usable containers rather than bringing pre-packaged
items.
Literacy
Phonics
We have
been working on split digraphs that using the bossy e such as a-e as in cake. The bossy e makes the
vowel say its name.
We have
also learnt the digraphs ai as in
rain and ay as in tray.
Writing
This
term we have been learning about persuasive text. A persuasive text is used to
convince someone of your idea and reasons why you are for or against something.
Examples may include letters, speeches and debates. Children need to state if
they agree or disagree and give three reasons including evidence.
Sight
Words – Please ensure children revise words in the sight word
booklet (owl book in homework folders) on a regular basis. Once children have
mastered a set of sight words they will be tested and given the following words.
Reading- The following is a free
app where parents can download decodable books to read at home.
Little
Learners Love Literacy.
This
app is free until the 13th of September.
Maths
Our
focus has been addition and subtraction as well as identifying the place value
of numbers including tens and ones.
Technology and enterprise
The
students have been working hard to plan the design and materials they would
like to use to make a wind chime and sun catcher. This project will be
completed in class. Further information
regarding the collection of materials will be sent home in the coming weeks.
