Special Events
In Term One, the students
celebrated…
St. Patrick’s Day
On the 17th
March, the students celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. As part of the celebrations,
the students wore little green hats, made Irish flags, went on a leprechaun
hunt and created self-portraits using a range of art and craft materials. All
the students had a wonderful day learning about St Patrick’s Day, as well as
interesting facts about Ireland.
Harmony Week
Classroom Activities
The students participated in
classroom activities focusing on inclusiveness, respect and a sense of
belonging for everyone. The students learnt and understood how all Australians
from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it.
Path to Harmony
In Visual Arts, the students
worked with Ms Randall to brainstorm responses to the Harmony Day message,
“Everyone Belongs”. After a planning session, the students used words, pictures,
colours and shapes to convey this message in three different ways; what it
looks like, what it sounds like and what it feels like in a place where
everyone belongs. The artwork was put together to form the ‘Path to Harmony’ on
the village green. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work, excellent
responses and creative pictures on the artwork.
Harmony Day Parade
On the 21st March,
the students participated in a parade with their buddy class (Room 8). The
students wore clothing representing cultures from around the world or dressed
in orange, which is the celebration colour for Harmony Day. Thank you to all
the parents for helping your child dress up for the parade.
