Revision for Year Two During the holidays, I will like you to reinforce the following skills with your child. Mathematics Skills  Number and Algebra Orally count starting from 0 by 2s to 100.  Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems to 40 using concrete materials, illustrations and counting on. Count collections to 100 or more by partitioning numbers using place value. ·          Measurement and Geometry Tell the time (hour and half hour).      English Skills Use nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives correctly in sentences.  Use basic conjunctions, contractions and similes in their writing.  Write recounts,procedures and narratives, with neat writing and approximately one page in length.  Apply basic proof reading and editing skills. Room 7 and 20 Christmas Lunch  A Little Celebration! Dear Parents We are nearing the end of a fantastic year and so to celebrate we have planned a special day for the students. On the 13th December (Wednesday) , the students will be having a Christmas lunch. What to bring: Your child needs to bring a plate of food or drink to share at our lunch. Please see the list on the window and write your name next to the food or drink that your child will bring to the lunch. Morning Tea: Please bring morning tea (as usual). Authors at work  As part of our Year One English Program, the students have been creating detailed texts for a range of purposes using simple frameworks. Recount Purpose : To retell a series of events. Swimming by Misbah On the sunny weekend, my Mum, brother, sister and I went to the Belmont Swimming Centre because I had swimming lessons. First, I got changed into my colourful swimming bathers. Then I found my friendly swimming instructor. She taught my group how to swim using our hands and feet. After my swimming lesson, I had a warm shower before coming home. I had an awesome time at swimming lessons. I can’t wait to go again! Welcome to Term Four!  From Miss Ryan The Clever Caterpillars have had an excellent start to Term Four. Over the last four weeks,the students have been involved in many great events... Dancing On the 9 th October, the students commenced dancing lessons. Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding effort and enthusiasm displayed during the dancing lessons. Keep up the fantastic work! Year Level Challenge Presentation On the 18 th October, the students attended a whole school assembly. At the assembly, the results for the Term Three Year Level Challenge were announced.  Well done to Kyan for achieving 100% on the Year One Challenge. Top work, Kyan! Wonderful last week of Term Three!  Learning Journey  Thank you to all the parents and grandparents for visiting our classroom and participating in the Learning Journey. It was lovely to see you taking a moment with your child to discuss their learning and view samples of their work. Thank you for completing the 'Two Stars and A Wish' with your child. This information will support the children in forming their English and Mathematics Goals for Term Four.          Junior Assembly On the 22nd September, the students attended their last Junior Assembly for Term Three. Congratulations to Lola and Philip for receiving their well-deserved Merit Certificates. I am very impressed with your wonderful effort towards learning. Keep it up! Term Four Super Science Challenge  Research Projects In Term Four, the Super Scientist challenge will be in the form of a research project. All students have been invited to research any scientific topic and present their information to the class in a short two minute presentation. Students are allowed to use posters, charts and ICT resources such as MS PowerPoint to support their presentation. Physical Education Program As part of the school's Physical Education Program, the students participated in the Cross Country and Sports Carnival during Term Three.  Cross Country This year fifteen students from Room 7 participated in the Junior Cross Country.  Congratulations to Willow, Lola, Misbah, Amelia, Monet, Laylah, Isabella, Alyssa, Jacob, Alexander LB, Joshua, Bryce, Samuel, Kyan and Lucas on a wonderful effort.  Thank you to all the students for their great cheering. You were an awesome cheering squad! Sports Carnival  Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding effort and enthusiasm displayed at the sports carnival.  A big congratulations to PURPLE for being the winning faction for 2017. National Wattle Day  On the 31st August, the students celebrated National Wattle Day . We celebrated it a day earlier because of the Faction Carnival taking place on the 1st September. Facts Wattle is our school emblem. Wattle is our national floral emblem. Wattle is Australian and represents us all. Like all people, wattle has great diversity. Wattle welcomes in the spring. Wattle is a unifying symbol for all Australians . Throughout the day, the students created flags, decorated badges and designed their own Wattle Day art work.  Kinds regards Miss Ryan

Book Week!  Reading books is a FUN adventure! Last week, the Clever Caterpillars participated in a range of integrated activities  to celebrate Book Week. The activities included:  Drawing a portrait of their favourite book character. Delivering a 5 minute presentation about their favourite book character to their peers. Planning, designing and creating a picture of their favourite place to escape to. Writing about their favourite place to escape to. Reading with their buddies in class.
